Coming out of your shell is not easy, not at all. Some in-confident
side of you begins to stop you and say, "Wait, are you sure of this?" or
something like, "Teka lang (Wait for a while), you better ask someone first. Maybe you'll look nakakahiya (shameful)"
Let me tell you some of my 2 newest experience that I really have to ask others:
Firstly,
fashion! When I got out of the country (my beloved Philippines), that
was the time realized that Filipinos are conservative of their own
fashion. I'm currently working in Jordan, a open Arab country, where
fabulous fashion styles are to be seen. Most of them are covered with abaya
( a type of muslim clothing that covers their body from head to foot)
but a lot of the prefers a head cover and a the usual clothes exposed (I
am referring to long sleeves an long pants). I'm not interested on that
fashion sense by the way; what i love here is that some Muslims don't
practice these fashion statement. They do have the option of wearing
whatever they like which includes sleeveless, skirts and shorts and it
looked so good on them. Trying to wear those are temtping. My questions
are, "Do i look good on it? it feels good wearing them but don't you
think others would see it as revealing?" But i'll get use to it anyway.
Thanks to my roommates who always say i look good on it. When you want
to get out of your shell, you needed some affirmation.
Secondly,
I am not techie! "Techie" is the word for you if you are good in
manipulating technologies. Guess what! I didn't know how to start
creating a gmail. But thank God, the word 'ask' made things easier.
Thanks to Mr. Manny Viloria (my first mentor of SWA -Supreme Wealth
Alliance) for showing me the baby-steps way out of my non- techie world.
We'll all I have to do is ask, even if you feel ashamed showing the
truths about your incapabilities. At the back of my head, "nakakahiya,
para sa simpleng bagay lng tinatanong ko pa." I even asked something
related to dollar accounts and peso accounts, because I don't know where
to send may membership fees.
Being ashamed or in-confident about
these new things and 'asking-level' will always be temporary. It will
not last forever so don't worry. If you want to learn something new,
then I encourage you start now. Starting points are always the most
difficult ones. Just remember that successful people always have their
humble beginnings.
